Participate to the first edition of the Emerging Art Market !

Deadline to apply : April 3, 2018

Emerging visual artists are invited to apply to participate in the first edition of the Emerging Art Market, which will take place from September 13 to 16, 2018 in Dorchester Square in downtown Montreal. The Emerging Art Market will be a veritable springboard for emerging artists, offering 3 months of training (10 workshops from May to August 2018) focusing on professional development. It will give certain artists the opportunity to make their first sales, create a professional network, and make a name for themselves.

The primary mission of the Emerging Art Market is to support and train young visual artists, from concept development to exhibition finalization. Artists will be selected by established professionals and guided by mentors at every stage of their creative project: production, development, packing, assembly, dissemination, dismantling, and concluding reports.

This opportunity is open to professional artists who are under the age of 35, who are Canadian citizens or permanent resident, who are living and working in Quebec, and who have practised art professionally for less than five years.

The 30 artists selected are required to attend the training session and must be available for assembly, dismantling, and the 4 days of the event.

Ten art graduates from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), ten art graduates from Concordia University, and ten emerging artists with an atypical or non-academic background will be selected to participate.

The Emerging Art Market is an initiative by Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Montréal Centre-Ville, Art Souterrain, and JACK Marketing, in collaboration with Destination Centre-Ville, the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Concordia University, the Foundation of Greater Montreal, and the Claudine and Stephen Bronfman Family Foundation, supported by the Conseil des arts de Montréal.
